Hello all,
I'm going to be brewing Wheeler's Wadworth 6X recipe in a week or so, and I'm curious what results you all have had with the various liquid yeast cultures in producing an authentic flavor. I have a great selection of White Labs offerings available to me, and a decent selection of Wyeast product as well.
Wadworth 6X yeast question
Re: Wadworth 6X yeast question
I've tried this with Nottingham yeast (not so good) and also Fullers (rather better). However, having researched all Wadworths brews
there does seem to be a common taste that is quite distinctive and is probably from the yeast. So I suspect a clone is never going to be right without the genuine article. Unfortunately, I've no idea whether this is available to buy. I'd like to know if it is, but I suspect getting it from a pub will be the only way.

Yep its definately their own yeast, it gives a very dry biscuity taste.
I dont think they do any BC beers either to culture it.
Maybe try emailing them to see if any of the White Labs/Wyeast cover it, I suspect not.

Thanks for the info. I believe I'll try WLP005. Reviews on White Labs site speak to similar characteristics as you describe.
