AHA Membership?
AHA Membership?
Not sure where to post this, so please feel free to move.
Is anyone here a member of the AHA? Any thoughts on it? And how are you finding the online Zymurgy issues? My main reason for joining is for the zymurgy back issues, I always get BYzo mag, but it's just too long between issues!
Cheers

Worth doing for zymurgy and back issues... Plus the recorded talks from the homebrewers association conf.
I joined because you had to to attend the conference... I'll keep the membership going for the mags.

When you compare the website for the AHA and then look at the site for the Craft Brewers Association it just shows how far behind the homebrewing scene in the UK is. I mean you even have to pay by cheque for CBA membership!

Can get the current one, and can search the back issues, but can't see an issue list where I can select one... Any help appreciated!

Re: AHA Membership?
Actually that is not true, you can pay by direct bank transfer or Standing order, and there is no reason why we cannot implement paying by paypal, as it has been tested by a few brave souls and works.jimp2003 wrote:When you compare the website for the AHA and then look at the site for the Craft Brewers Association it just shows how far behind the homebrewing scene in the UK is. The AHA is a commercial organisation, who's sole purpose is to make a profit, it also has the resources of brewers publications behind it. The more members the CBA gets, who are willing to get involved, and actually help organise and run things at a local level the better, and the more things the CBA will be able to do
Re: AHA Membership?
Maybe the fact that you can pay by bank transfer should be put clearly on the website as the only reference to it that I could find just now was on the application form. Previously I was put off getting to the point of opening the form because only cheque payment was mentioned on the site.Aleman wrote:Actually that is not true, you can pay by direct bank transfer or Standing order, and there is no reason why we cannot implement paying by paypal, as it has been tested by a few brave souls and works.jimp2003 wrote:When you compare the website for the AHA and then look at the site for the Craft Brewers Association it just shows how far behind the homebrewing scene in the UK is. The AHA is a commercial organisation but profit is not a dirty word paricularly if it enables them to offer excellent resources and support to the homebrewing community...
I will be joining the CBA shortly as I guess I should not really criticise it without experiencing what they have to offer firsthand...

Re: AHA Membership?
CBA website is rubbish for sure but their journal and its back archive going back to 90's is the best homebrewing publication there is, it is funny, informative and charmingly old-school. Guys like James McCrorie and Clive La Pensee crack me up.jimp2003 wrote:When you compare the website for the AHA and then look at the site for the Craft Brewers Association it just shows how far behind the homebrewing scene in the UK is. Alan Partridge came to mind

I buy from The Malt Miller
