A friend of mine spent last weekend in Southwold and picked up a minicask of Adnam's Southwold bitter
He dropped off the cask (just emptied) :( last night.

I added dregs to a 500cc LME starter straight away and today its going great guns :D

I know its wrong area but has anyone got any recipe suggestions for this?

IT'S HAPPENING! IT'S HAPPENING! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS FINALLY HAPPENING!

Kegman took a tour not too long ago and photographed a chart specifying the ingredients for all their current beers!

Pleased to report that Adnams Southwold bitter yeast starter finished very quickly and floculated really well.

Day 4. Yeast settled down very nicely. :)

No stirrer used. Its too noisy to use in the house & I've currently no space in fermenting fridges in garage.
I just placed flask in the kitchen on worktop over boiler ~20-22C daytime, cooler overnight.

Hi Seymour

Yeast is in the post. Sent Airmail this afternoon. :D

Its in a pressure-cooker sanitised WLP vial and thats in some cardboard packing so cross fingers will be OK.

As its dual strain I thought it would be better for you to get it just 1 generation after harvesting so you got about 1/2 of the yeast from the flask (shown in the topic-pics) & I'm stepping up the rest for hopefully a brew at the weekend.

When I stepped up I poured off most of the clear fermented wort.

Normally I just taste this to check nothing awful going on.
Rare that I drink the lot like I did this time.

Wort was made with just unhopped LME so normally starters does taste of anything much but this had lots of body and beginnings of an English ale taste. Looking forward to this brew :)

I'm guessing you haven't had cask broadside Seymour ?
Just the bottled version ?
A pint of cask broadside from a top pub (The Vic in Beeston, Nottingham) is THE beer that changed the way I look at beer. It is basically the reason I have 2 100L bergland pots, an 80L thermopot, pump, Qmax cutter etc. etc. crowding my small Parisian apartment.

If you can get that yeast cultured up, you are in for a treat... Best of luck with it and of course - Let us know how you get on !

I already had the gear, but I can sympathize. As some members may recall, my quest for this yeast is what originally got me joined up and posting to Jim's.

That's the idea. I'll definitely keep you all updated!

Cheers to all!
