Damn! They are a good price too. :-) should be easy enough to locate some food grade ones. Hope I can get them at that price!

Seller got back to me about these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123

Said they aren't suitable. Said there was a small amount of oil in them from the manufacturing process. Wonder what type of oil...

If fitting the tap is tricky then why not put the tap in the lid and the valve in the body of the container towards the bottom (ie. near the top when the lid is near the bottom). Sort of thinking the container could be set up with a little tilt a bit like a cask on a rack.

I did just this with a 10L one and it worked well. Fits into the fridge too as it's length-ways.

Fitting the tap isn't that difficult really though. I've done 4 to date.

Sorry... Just seeing this. Yep, they're great. They do the job nicely and are pretty cheap.

Haha.

I had one of my kegs sitting at 9PSI comfortable for a week or so.

Hi Floyd,

I've tried building a jerry keg following your design (only using a 5L jerry), however, the taps keep leaking (the seal is not water tight).
I used the same taps as you in your first post and I've tried putting the washer on the inside & outside - neither method seems to work.

Any suggestions why the keg is leaking & how to fix it?

Thanks!

Yes, but is the rest of the cartridge? Does it have some oil in it from manufacturing? Or other chemical present in the gas that make it unsuitable?
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
