wide wort chiller
wide wort chiller
So, I'm just about .tk make my immersion chiller with 15m of copper pipe. Quick question though.
I've got a 100l stockpot boiler, and was thinking about making the chilled wider and flatter using an fv to wrap it Round rather than a paint tin so more would be submerged if doing a smaller batch. Is there any issue with this?
Cheers

Re: wide wort chiller
Think your on the right track too. bigger wider = more effective.
and with a wide coil you may even get to stir or recirculate a whirlpool to keep hot wort moving over the chilling coils for maximum effect too.
15mm tube tho? is it soft or hard 15mm tube you have? what length are you aiming for? I think i may need to reform my chiller or make a 2nd for the planned bigger brewkit, if its thruput thru smaller tube thats led you to 15mm pipe you could consider running 2 or 3 concurrent coils in thinner tube, easier to bend and cheaper, and a greater surface area too

Re: wide wort chiller
Yes, wide would work well but best of luck bending 15mm pipe round an FV!

Yes, so, just to clarify
I have a 15 Meter coil of 3/8" copper pipe.
