Re: 10l lager recipie plz
Hi Lee
Here is my standard lager recipe. It is for 23-24l but just stick it into Beer Engine and scale it down to what ever brew length you want.
Beer Engine can be found at the top of this page under Calculators.
It is a great recipe, makes a far better lager than any lager I have ever bought.
Its simple, I have made it with a stepped mash and a single temp mash, It doesn’t appear to make much, if any difference. So I don’t bother step mashing anymore with UK malt.
I have listed the stepped mash details, but you can just use a single temp of 65c for 90mins and it will be fine.
10 EBC
29 EBU
3.Kg Lager Malt
1Kg Munich Malt
Pinch of Sodium Met in the mash water.
5g Gypsum in the mash, 5g in the boil.
Mash at 50c 30 mins then 65c 45-60 mins,
.
70g Sazz @3.1aa FWH 90 mins
5g Protofloc @ 15 mins
15g @3.5aa Sazz 15 min
15g Sazz Hop Tea. Added when fermentation is down to about 1010, just before bottling.
Collected 24L @ 1043
Saflager W-34/70 Yeast.
Bottle @1010
It’s a tasty brew after a week in the bottle and will improve after a few months,
I make a few of these every year around September, as a Christmas Lager for non ale drinking guests.
My advice is make a full batch and keep it in bottles.
