Grumpy Bum - This Weekends Brew

Post by Wez » Wed May 23, 2007 6:34 pm

Green light given by Mrs Wez for another brew this bank holiday weekend, well I've got another keg to fill after visiting Norm

This is what i'm going to do (from BYORAAH)

25L - 75% Efficency
4130.00 gm Pale Malt MO 91.0 %
410.00 gm Crystal Malt - 10L (19.7 EBC) Grain 9.0 %
81.00 gm Fuggles [4.90%] (90 min) Hops 40.7 IBU
25.00 gm Styrian Goldings [2.00%] (15 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep)

Sound OK?

looks good, i'd maybe drop some of the fuggles and add some more styrian at 15 mins but thats just to suit my tastes, good luck with it wez.

Looks good to my untrained eye Wez, you must be one of the most prolific brewers here at the moment !

Which recipe is it based on by the way ?

Cheers Guys, yeah I am brewing a lot at the moment, it's a combination of a few things, legacy empty kegs, buying a 5th keg, beer fairies, loving doing AG and trying to get as much in as I can before Mini Wez MK2 arrives mid October as then it's back to the kits game again.! Brewing this weekend and next!, that should be it for a month then (we will see) 8) :D

The recipie is based on Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter

Now you've "come over to the dark side" you won't want to go back to kits. Those 3Kg kits are expensive, think how much pale malt you could buy for £15! You could always try malt extract as a compromise?

I'll have to see..with Wez Mk1 things were great loads of 'down time' when she was asleep but i think that Wek Mk1 at Version 3 years old + Wez Mk2 at 1 to 6 months old is going to = kits  i know what you mean about cost, I get 25KG MO for £15 at the moment....

Where there's a Wez there's a way. 8)

Top stuff, Wez!

You're the craft brewer's equivalent of a steam locomotive at the moment!
