Wow, that's the hardest recipe I've tried so far, to try and keep it within style guidelines oh my god and use the different malts.....

I think I've had to take the hit on the EBC's, most of the malts I wish to use are 50, the freakin candy sugars 450!! So, using the base malt and then Carragold to try and up the ABV to style oh my word.

I think what I should have done was use pale and lager malt, bit of carragold and the candy sugar for taste and mouthfeel and colour. I've also blended 200g of raisins with a little water, ready for 15 mins from the end of the boil.

I dare not show you the grain bill, I think you will all freak.....

I blendid them you see thinking that would extract the best flavours....little did I know that come the process of draining the bleedin pot, they would in turn block the stupid filters....

I need to get those false bottom filters, do you think mate???

Well, not to rub salt in your wounds, but for the record I wasn't the one who mentioned caramelizing raisins in "a simple Belgian Dubbel Recipe." But I'm sorry you had such a tough day. Rest assured this beer will be delicious, and by the time you're drinking it, you'll have forgotten all the toil.

Just to clarify, as I understand it the guys meant for the raisins to be blendered, then added to the boil kettle (with or without caramelization first, depending on the source), right? Are you saying that even after a long boil, there were still such big chunks as to clog your boil kettle outlet?

One last suggestion. You're right, homebrewing is long hard work. You spend the same time and energy, and end-up thread-bare whether you brew a 10 L batch or a 25 L batch. You really ought to consider doubling your quantity so that you at least get more of the goods.

Anyway, good work. What doesn't kill you makes you drunker. Or something like that. :)
