I had a go but my yeast handling wasn't up to much then.

Also since then I've seen they have 400EBC crystal in the grain store for the Old Ale so perhaps that's what they use in this?

Here's what I've got, in case it helps:

Harvey's/Harvey & Son/The Bridge Wharf Brewery - Lewes, East Sussex, UK

Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter/BB
OG: 1041
ABV: 4.0%
IBU: 34-40
Colour: light amber
Grainbill: 88.1% Pale, 6.8% Dark Crystal Malt, 5.1% Flaked Maize
Bittering/Flavor Hops: Challenger or Progress (60 min), Bramling Cross (30 min)
Aroma Hops: Fuggles, Goldings (at flame-out, then steep)
Yeast: Harvey's proprietary English ale strain, repitched for over 50 years

Harvey's Sussex Pale Ale/PA/Bitter
OG: 1033
ABV: 3.5%
IBU: 30
Colour: golden amber
Grainbill: 90.6% Pale, 7.6% Flaked Maize, 1.8% Light Brown Sugar
Bittering Hops: Northern Brewer
Aroma Hops: Goldings
Yeast: Harvey's proprietary English ale strain, repitched for over 50 years

With Harvey's it's mainly about the yeast...have you ever had a chance to try Sussex Best Seymour?

Sadly, no. I wish!

Is their yeast available in any commercial form that you know of? Do they ever bottle-condition with their primary strain?

Without googling this is what I used to know/think: They had a porter some years ago that was bottle conditioned (not sure if still available), also their imperial double stout (?exact name?) is bottled conditioned. Primary strain? Sadly no idea.

I've a feeling you'd love their imperial stout...it's not normally available in cask as far as I know but I had it from one at CAMRA's Dover Winter beer festival some years ago....WOW!!

Well they definitely use Fuggles in there somewhere as I know they source them from the hop garden about 4 miles from my house :)

Just for Seymour..second from left.

It's from 2003, even if it is primary strain yeast, would it be any good. I'm keeping these for special occasions really....

Maybe, just maybe. I've successfully cultured Trappist yeast from a Westmalle bottle and a Gales Prize Old Ale, both as old as yours. It certainly doesn't hurt to try whenever you decide to drink it. Pour carefully, leaving an inch behind, then refill with pre-boiled unfermented wort, cover with foil, and wait.
