Ahhh yes of course. I'm going to inflate mine with helium, tie them to a long bit of fishing line and float them up to the sun. I will use a wire trace on the end of the line, attached to the inflated, so the sun doesn't melt through the line.floydmeddler wrote:No... this should also sanitise/sterilise inside too as the entire bag will reach 100c. I reckon so anyway.

Re: 25L jerrycans to mature/clear and stockpile?
Anybody know where I can get spare standard lids for the 25L cubes?
I'm going to ferment in one, and drill the lid for a airlock.
But want spare lids so I can seal em up for maturing.

fyi if drilling for a bung/airlock, there is a ring of raised plastic at about 12mm diameter in the centre making soft red gromet/bungs a bit of a pita to sit in if drilled in the centre, big demijon type bung holes will cut this obstruction right out.. small holes may be drilled off centre perhaps, i discovered this feature after drilling all my holes in one session DUH!!

Re: 25L jerrycans to mature/clear and stockpile?
Might it be worth just using a lid with tap? then putting a small 10cm length of tube pointing down out of the tap. Seems like a better option than bastardising lids when you could have a dual purpose solution. hell with a bit of pipe you could just stick an airlock out the end.

Jesus, these just get better and better! I racked a beer into a Jerrycan a few days ago along with 35g of sugar. I screwed the lid on and yesterday, I managed to draw off 4 pints without unscrewing the lid because of the pressure within. The Jerrycan wasn't even that bloated too. Today, it's bloated up slightly again (more so) and if I wanted, I'd be able to draw off another 5-6 pints I reckon. Brilliant!

I haven't tried yet as I thought the taps themselves were a bit crappy but I may have a go now.

We must be using different jerry cans as I can't get into mine and the tap is moulded into the can body.floydmeddler wrote:I use these. Work really well:
