I have a full 5l of the stuff so it will out live me unless I can find other uses for it.
Any ideas and dilution rates?
Cheers.
Lee.

Drain unblocker?
Dilution rate is about 1:40, so 50ml per 2ltrs.
I you can't find a use for it, I'm sure I can.
It only took me a couple of years to get through my first 5ltrs, and I'm now into my second.

I think you can use it where you'd normally use bleach or other caustic cleaners. Probably best to observe contact times if using it on metals though.

Re: Other uses for Purple line cleaner?
People do use it for that, yes. Where there are stubborn deposits then personally I prefer hot cleaners (e.g percarbonate/metasilicate, oxy-cleaner, soda-crystals etc) for which contact time is less of a concern as they can then work away for hours until successful, but some do use BLC on their cornies and I have no problem with it for short periods at least - it does have a physical cleaning as well as microbiological sanitising action and can be very effective where there isn't 'lots' of physical crudd to cut through.
I've heard the problem with contact time is mostly around the solution/air boundary but thats beyond my knowledge and I'd be happier if someone more intelligent could help clarify the reality of this - I'm no chemist. In practice I find with cooling/shrinking/evaporating cleaner, that air/solution boundary can be hard to keep away from important places though, so in ignorance or otherwise I've always shied away from it for long periods.
Cheers

Cheers Kev, I'll just stick with the oxi/starsan routine then. It's not failed me yet.

Re: Other uses for Purple line cleaner?
I use it for corny cleaning and line/ tap cleaning which I do together.
Typical regime
- Rinse corny out with with cold water using spray attachment on hosepipe until bright. If crud on side use plastic scrubber to remove.
- Add 5L cold water to corny. Shake then flush via tap.
- Repeat with about 3L hot water (shake, flush via tap)
- 3L Purple Line cleaner (mine diluted at 10cc cleaner in 1L water). Shake, start flush until lines full. Leave 20 mins, then finish flush.
- Add 5L cold water to corny. Shake then flush via tap & repeat
- 1.5L Starsan solution (mine diluted at 1.6cc SS in 1L Ashbeck water). Shake, start flush until lines full. Leave 2 mins, then finish flush.
Ready to go..
