Taps in Jerrycans

Hi,
Just bought a couple of these for my fermentation fridge http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-New-25L-25 ... 51a8b74d0e
I know a few on here use them too....thing is how do you put taps on them...i stupidly drilled a hole at the bottom of one for the drum tap but couldnt get hand in top to screw the nut on the inside..thought my wife might manage but hand was no where never small enough.....had to use the one i hadnt drilled and will syphone out when its ready...bit of a pain though...any advice?!
