Is Alton still the small quaint town it used to be 30 yrs ago, or have things moved on?

It's not too bad. It has grown a bit but kept its market town-ness.

You wouldn't have thought so though from the entry on chav towns - http://www.chavtowns.co.uk/2005/07/alton-hampshire/

but as I was brought up in north London it is pretty much utopia for me :D

Me thinks the entry from chav towns could be adapted to mean anywhere in the UK?

Not a bad looking line up with the beers tho :)

We had a great day on Saturday.

I tried the following

Dark Star - Hophead 9/10
Flowerpots - Stormchaser 8/10
Isle of Purbeck - Studland Bay Wrecked - 7/10
Oakleaf - Hole Hearted 8/10
Stonehenge - Sign of Spring 3/10 and not just because it was green (in colour)
Woodfordes - Wherry 5/10

Finished off with a couple more Hophead as the Itchen Valley Citra and Langhams Hiphop never arrived.
