Seconded!

Try Maidenhead. No spray malt, not even BKE the last couple of times I visited. Just a few cans and brewers sugar.

Happy brewing,

Ian.

We are planning to introduce a dark malt later this year along with some of the other product mentioned on this thread. I am currently designing a new tiered shelf that can display twice as many product as the old shelf. Once this is done, then we will have the space to introduce more range.

Cheers

The only thing is, the beer kit types in my Wilkos (Arnold, Nottingham) are not the ones talked about on here, although it is the same deal. They have IPA, Yorkshire Bitter, and another Dark Ale type (can't remember the exact name). Are these just renamed, ie IPA = Golden Ale, Yorkshire Bitter = Best Bitter, Dark Ale = Real Ale.

Also, couldn't see any projected ABV on the kits. I presume they would all work out about the same, given they use 3kg of malt. Any ideas? About 4% maybe?

Hope someone can help because I'm off to the shops before the offer runs out. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Have a look on our website for the full range. Not all stores stock the full range due to space restrictions. Let me know which product you would like more info on and I will contact the supplier and see what I can find out
Cheers

They do a yorkshire bitter, old english ale and an IPA. These are not the Wilkinson branded kits however, whiich come in very plain white packaging. Can't vouch for these kits, but they are 2 can kits and are almost certainly made by Muntons, so I reckon you should be fine. £15 for a 3Kg 2 can kit is not to be sniffed at
yup, at that value i purchased 2, i am about to brew the first one saturday. the shop is great value at £16, that is worth the risk of brewing. wilkos priced things right. after telling all the brewey people at work, 3 out of the 5 went to have a look-see. so the word is getting around.
i plan to try allgrain / brewbag soon, my experience and feedback has been very +ve.

Hi steve,
first off have to commend wilko's for doing this, makes a refreshing change for retailers to seek our opinion.
I recently purchased the hoppy copper bitter with free brewing sugar for 10 quid (this offer now seems to have stopped please bring it back lol), i know that it has had mixed reviews on forums but think this may be down to too many people expecting too much for the value price, i found it to be a little lighter than i would like but at that price it makes a lovely session beer and i'm half way thru my barrel atm
also why have wilko's stopped doing the tubs of youngs super wine yeast (with bentonite and nutrients inc) i found this to be great all round yeast at a good price please get it back asap
thanks
Jase

Hi Steve,

I started brewing one of your apple cider kits on 6th april, took over 4 days to start fermenting and 3 weeks to finish fermenting, it maintained a temp of 20℃, since then I've had it sat carbing at same temp, it's now been nearly 6 weeks and no sign of it clearing at all, I've had 2 bottles sat in fridge for a week and still no sign of clearing there either, from beggining to end it seems to be the slowest brew I've ever done, never had any issues with any other kit I've done before and followed instruction fully.

Wondering whether the yeast was a bad batch?

Hi Steve quick question..

I've noticed that the glass demi-johns you sell are smaller than what they where a few years ago. They've been reduced from 5 litres to 4.5 litres and the price is still the same - why is that? Was a bit miffed as they were perfect for turbo ciders! [-X

Cheers!

Is there an "special offers" mailing list?

Are wilkos clearing out their homebrew stock?

This deal is fantastic, but seems a bit to good to be true.

Got 2 pressure barrells, a capper, 3 new FVs, 2 2 can kits and a few other bits and bobs all for less than £60.

Even as an AG brewer I couldnt pass up a few kits at this price!
