20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
But Cooky the poll is "Yes I would buy one" not five.

Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
A gas set up for a "single" keg isn't worth it. Everyone knows you need atleast 5, maybe even 6 to make it worthwhile!

Of course, then you'll need ones to have in reserve in case any of those 6 run out of beer.

But thats when you buy a bigger fridge to enable the fitting of 50litre kegs, so you actually only need 3 x 50 kegs = 150 litres = 7.5 x 20 litres. Unless you want more than 3 styles olf beer.
Scrub that just buy 10 x 20litres and be done with it
I`ve heard kegs breed better than cornys

Exactly barneey and when you run out of space, you just feed em up into the 50L versions, absolutely no problems.
In reality though, I'd have a mixture, as I've said before session ales belong in 50L containers where as enamel stripping IPA's need 20L kegs!
So, possible group buy.

Just a quick heads up on the 20ltr kegs, I believe that Crusader might have over ordered on the supply of their latest shipment of 20lt kegs, so if your after one I would contact them to see if they have any available and at what prices.

For those interested there will be 4 going spare as I have changed my order to Ecofass instead. So as Barneey has posted send an email to Steve at Crusader if interested.

They do look mighty good. I might have to change my mind having seen them.
Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
My new 20lt ss kegs have arrived. 7 am knock on the door and Crusader were standing there.
4 x 20 lt kegs with the spears separate. Now I need to get brewing to put something in them.

Normally you would get an email back, then an invoice in the post with the paperwork.
No idea how many kegs the company ordered in the slimline 20ltr format, so you may or maynot be lucky.
I`m still waiting for mine to be deliveried.
Nearly 4 months now

Yep if I hadnt tipped you lot off I might have had them now, didnt have to pay for delivery tho.
Thought myself and Gnutz would have at least been on a bit of commision from Crusader the amount of trade / publicity we must have generated for em, but as always knowledge is free. I`m still surprised they didnt even join the forum, must have a different sale strategy thinking to mine.
On another note if they are selling quickly the original idea of importing them as a group buy would have worked, but the initial comments and uptake / votes werent exactly forthcoming, with 18 poisitives. Maybe it was all the talk of different spears and couplers that put people off, but as always the more info out there the better for everyone. I even posted the spear removal vid to show how simple the procedure was, keg companies want show you that.
A few final comments they arent difficult to CLEAN or USE just learn how to use them, its not rocket science.
I wondered what would have happened if everyone had started with traditional kegs and then someone approached the idea of using corny kegs instead, would you have got comments like, "you cant seal thm without pressure" or do you really have to take the dip tubes out everytime" or " do i have to do a bubble test of the poppets everytime" or "do i really need to change the seals to the red soft seals" or "how do i get me arm out of the corny keg - I got it stuck whilst cleaning with a green scrubby" VERY easy to be negative about anything
Hope my kegs arrive soon
