Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown
Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown
Faced by the twin evils of Tuborg and Carlsberg lagers on a recent trip through Denmark, I managed to find Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown on draught.
Maybe it was because there was no other choice but it seemed a nice beer and after 10 days of resorting to wine and spirits to avoid bland pilsener (except a decent Biere de Flandres in France) a bit of darkness went down a treat. Any ideas for the recipe or was it only a 'holiday' beer that would actually taste dull next to anything you could get easily in the UK?

Re: Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown
I'm afraid it was a holiday romance
Jacobsen Brown is a very ordinary brown ale, nice but nothing that gets your heart pumping.

Re: Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown
Fair enough, it must have been a combination of a raging hangover, lack of sleep, the price and the fact that it didn't taste like a bland pilsener that made it seem like Valhalla's own-brand nectar.

Re: Carlsberg Jacobsen Brown

Tasted much better than that I'm sure...
from the Carlsberg Website...
Jacobsen Brown Ale is inspired by the best English ale traditions.
Jacobsen Brown Ale is inspired by the best English ale traditions and is an unusual, fruity, full-flavoured beer. Its deep mahogany brown colour comes from the exclusive English malt Maris Otter Ale, which is combined with Amber malt, Carafa special malt, Caramel malt, Chocolate malts and added Nelson Sauvin aroma hops from New Zealand.
An unusual fruity full-flavoured ale.
