Sambrooks Junction

Evening All,

Anyone got a Sambrooks Junction clone / nearish recipe... Just had 4 pints at lunch in Camden, and was a lovely summer pint it is, its neither pale, nor hoppy, but as Bitters go, very refreshing....

Im presuming, its pale, lots of crystal and lots of goldings from the orangey taste... but then i also get a splash of crystal rye too..

Anyone have a clue?

From their website, this should be enough detail to get you close:

Sambrook's Junction Ale (Bitter)
Sambrook's Brewery - Battersea, Greater London, England, UK
OG: 4.5%
IBU: ≈30
Colour: "auburn", elsewhere described as deep reddish amber
Grainbill: Maris Otter, lots of Crystal Malt, a touch of Roasted Barley
Hops: Challenger, Bramling Cross, Goldings, two additions

Anyone know about Sambrook's yeast?

I'm secretly proud of my guessing the golding correctly, but shocked about the bramling X!

I presume the roast barley is just a colour addition?

I assume so too, but in very small small quantities it adds some faint toasty nuances. It also provides an interesting burnt-grain-derived bitterness, which along with the hops bitterness provides a nice balance to the malt sweetness.

Hi Al, found your post whilst looking for a recipe myself. Did you get anywhere near making something similar? I luckily have all of their listed ingredients in the cupboard but sadly not enough know how to attempt to create it off my own back! Cheers.
