Kegs arrived, 30l
Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Hey guys, couple of questions on the 20l kegs.
How much did they cost delivered? I'm guessing they no longer require the 36 unit order that was mentioned previously?
What are the dimensions of them? The dimensions a few pages back didn;t seem to tie up with what was on their website?
Also, in terms of the spears, what do breweries do for cleaning and filling??

The kegs are about £54 + VAT & Delivery (email them for a quote £25? per batch????)
About just over three months ago Crusader were putting in an order for a brewery I therefore ordered my original 4 then. Recently I contacted Crusader to ask if it were possible to order another 2, Justin said that he had over ordered on the kegs, by how much I`ve no idea, so for the time being they are (should be) in stock. These kegs I ordered were the slim line ones (not mentioned on their website) about the same size as a corney keg, hope Alex will confirm this later. (I`m still waiting for mine to arrive. As for what breweries use for cleaning no idea but I use PBW nand starsan

Ah interesting, I might get in touch... although I don't really need any.... but.....
In terms of what breweries do, I meant, do they have a proprietary spear remover to remove the spear then clean, or do they clean & refill with the spear in situ?

Again no idea what breweries do regarding the spear, but for home use you can do either method, I perfer the removal method.

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Right, the moment you've all been waiting for.....
The spears were pretty easy to remove using the 5p trick. Although I did cut my thumb on the threads on the first keg
I will however remove the safety to make future removal easier.
Thanks for all the tips Clive on spear removal, really helped
Here are some pics. They fit in my fridge very well, plenty of room for the coupler.

How very corny like
theyre a good size like that.
i think most of tbe bigger breweries wont bother with spear removal. just cleanse em rinse em and good to go. not like they get any sediment in their product with all that filtering....

Are those the 20l? Do they do 30 in similar shape? Rather than the short fat ones

They're more compact than what I thought. Really nicely made. You'll be happy with yours Clive!

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Approx 6kg empty
Just cut the safety off with my grinder and gave the kegs a good clean out. Tomorrow I am going to sterilise and fill.
