Supplies in Ireland

Post by Bugno » Thu May 31, 2007 11:26 pm

Hi all. My fermentation is still stuck. I am waiting on an order from England for some safale and yeast vit. It takes a while. As you have guessed im from Ireland. Can anyone tell me if there are any decent suppliers in Ireland. Very poor selection over here. There doesn't seem to be much interest in the home brewing over here. Are there any Irish on the forum.

you've answered your own question i'm afraid.
there's grapengrain dublin
thehomebrewcentre in limerick
glengarrif in co clare

and thats really about it. and no brick and mortar store to browse in either - only online. if you are in dublin and you ring grape and grain you MAY get a sachet of yeast tomorrow or saturday

oh and you should come on over to www.irishcraftbrewer.com!

Welcome Bugno, where abouts are you

the is a place in clare here it is The homebrew centre.

There is also is a guy in cork, Bob from Glengarriff. A quick phone call and he'll post out a catalogue. The lads on Irish craft brewer whill have his number

Also a lot of us order stuff in from England that can’t be sourced here, I like the Hop and Grape, with a delivery for bigger loads of up to 30kg for 17 stg to Ireland

Im down in Laois. Heard about the hop and grape. A friend of mine has ordered from there. He said they were good. He has ordered some vit and yeast for me along with his order and hopes to have today. So fingers crossed.

Just another question. If my brew is stuck and wont move off 1020 is it still possible to bottle or am I likely to make bottle bombs. I realise the alcohol will be low, around 3.1%. I am determined one way or the other to salvage something here as its my first try at this and there's pride at stake as all my mates said it wouldn't work.. I know alot of people keg but bottling appeals to me. I like the whole process. A friend of mine owns a pub so I have unlimited access to bulmers empties.

Are you an extract or all grain brewer and how long has the beer been in the primary?

Its just a muntons kit im using. It is in primary now for 13 days. I gave it a gentle stir on wednesday. The water in the airlock has shifted to one side since then. Hopefully something is happening and that its not just a result of me disturbing the liquid. I am planning to take a reading tonight. If the water in the airlock is still to one side would you recommend leaving it for a few more days before taking a reading.

If you not doing secondary, I would leave it for a total of 21 days

In killaloe is where the HomeBrewCentre.ie is, not too much of a drive to get the yeast in an emergency... give them a call.
