Keg washer pump?

Hi, I'm hoping to build a keg washer for the two 50l kegs i bought from crusader recently. Can anyone recommend a good cheap pump which could handle cip temperatures and create the needed pressure through a 1" pipe with holes drilled. Cheers.

The only thing I would investigate is somesort of submersible pump, the run of the mill "normal" pumps I`ve tried in the past havnt exactly been up to the job - at least with the spray ball I was trying to use. Darkonnis has the ball now and at last point of contact was trying to borrow a submersible pump to trial the idea.

For me the easiest way to clean is to fill the keg 1/3 full of cleaning solution - stand upright - stand inverted, then do the 4 sides (whilst on its side). The only thing I havent tried yet is the spray plate thingy I bought from one of the members THBF site. - you would still need to invert the keg tho.

Please let us know if you find anything pump wise.

Cheers barn, it's got me thinking, hopefully all the members who have crusaders kegs will be thinking about or have built a washer. I think an all for one approach is needed. If anyone has pics on a homemade keg washer it would be appreciated.

I know fuggledog, who has wood casks, uses steam to clean those, why not look at trying to adapt a wallpaper stripper to do the cleaning, steam carries a very high energy charge and should be able to kill bacteria at least.

I'm sure I saw somewhere a while ago that somebody had built a homemade cask washer using a dual impeller shower pump

Seems that shower pumps are cheaper than sub pumps on the bay, plot2pot have you any more detail?

As a cheap option (which is what I think you want) You're basically looking at a large plastic box (100L) a steel stand or perhaps plastic again to sit the keg on, and a submersible pump (about £75-100) which sits in the bottom of the tank and fires straight into the keg with a spray ball (£45) at the top.

You're looking at £200. Don't really see how you could do it cheaper if I'm honest. I have to ask though, for the "2" kegs you have bought do you really need a keg washer? it won't be any quicker by the time you've set up the washer and filled with solution than it would have been to just put 5L of PBW in each keg and give it a shake/roll.

Its an Ebara pump 40psi 2.75bar I use a rotating head rathar than a sprayball.
