Hi All

Firstly with regards overseas postage if you let me know where you want it posted then I will put a button on the page (a button is now up for Rep of Ireland).
Can I suggest if you are overseas you consider airmail? It is often very comparable to surface mail in price (well ok there was 40p in it for Rep Ireland and I can't imagine there being that much of a difference elsewhere (but then again we are on about the Royal Mail :D )
Anyway let me know where you are and I'll supply both air & surface prices and you can decide.

Payments - sticky wicket here

Some of you seem intent on paying full price :D
I have removed temptation by removing all links on the page bar the home link.
I think some of you were clicking on the red link to buy and not the silver buy now button, anyway I'll continue to issue refunds and ask you to re-order.

The biggest sticking point is debit / credit cards - I'm not sure how some of you have paypal set up to get funds from but I'd hazard a guess you have cards registered against your account.
Paypal is then treating the payment you make as a card funded transaction :(

This immediately levies a 41p card fee whether it be a debit or credit card

I have no option but to refuse these payments, it is nothing personal and would hope no-one takes offence at the refusal.

What i thought would be a simple method is turning complicated for you guys (for me I just hit one button so no probs here) and I really don't know what to suggest, and I am sorry for the trouble some of you guys are having
As far as I am aware if a bank account is linked to your paypal account then this is ok, but if the bank account is linked via your debit card then this causes a fee.
The one certain way is that if you have £6.25 or more in funds showing in your paypal account then it is not going to cause you problems.
Input from any Ebay / Paypal guru on this would be appreciated.

Again sorry about the paypal issue, it's out of my control what they charge but I feel gutted for you guys who have taken the time to order :(

On the upside.......
For quite a while I've been thinking I'm missing summat in my life, couldn't quite pin it down though....after spending a while lurking here and reading before rearing my ugly head, I've figured out what it is and it's thanks to you lot!
Gave the wife the good news this week :D
She can taste Flowers again!
I figure mashing has got to be back on the cards - so now to dig out the equipment and get me up and running again. Due to commitments this isn't going to happen until August but at least that will give me time to get me ingredients in.
cheers & best regards

Marc

Already having bought your book from my local HBS recently i have no need for another but the discount is a very welcome gesture for people still to purchase a good recipe book 8) I am very impressed with the Extract conversion for people who like myself are not doing full grain mashes yet :D

Nice gesture Mark, I have had your book a good few years now and I have had a lot of pleasure from both reading and brewing from it. 8)

I sell a bit on eBay too, and the PayPal fees do sting a bit... unfortunately, not taking PayPal kills sales. You will also find that many eBay buyers have their accounts funded by credit or debit card.

Payments from a Direct Debit funded account seem to be processed as e-cheques and can take ages to clear.

Have you considered my suggestion of accepting BACS bank transfer? It's perfectly safe for the seller, no chargebacks, and you only give out the info that's on all your cheques (sort code and account number). It would save 30-odd pence for a stamp to send a cheque!

Prodigal

Cost to Spain is £7.50 airmail or £7.10 surface mail - if you want to order off the forum page set up then the button for Ireland can be used as the price is the same.

Sparky

Point taken, I do have two paypal accounts. 1 premier & 1 std I just can't seem to figure a way of saying use this one for card and the other for anything else. Ebay & the forum page use the std account and the main "buy now" page on the site takes the premier.

Part of the the reason for using (or trying to use) Paypal was security for you guys. I do not see your details and you get a receipt.

However this paypal issue is causing you guys problems and I'm not too chuffed about that.

Could I ask you try Paypal, is the payment is refused then please contact me for my bank account details and then you can do a BACS payment. If that sounds too much hard work then please contact me straight off the bat and just do BACS anyway.

So it would be safe to say BACS is now an option :D

For those of you who have sent cheques & had a payment refused all I can say is sorry for the hassle.
cheers & best regards

You're very welcome.

I personally find it irksome when I have paid for something and it isn't posted the same or next day, so I apply the same standard to myself (well ok Sunday excluded :D )

I stumbled across my copy at a second hand book shop in Hay On Wye. It cost £4, which is a respectable price, I think. (Jamine Oliver was going for less)
