Hardy's & Hansons Olde Trip Recipe

Post by Steveicky » Fri Nov 29, 2013 1:00 am

Does anyone have a recipe for Hardy's & Hansons Olde Trip. I had a few pints in the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem a year or so ago and it went down well with a pie. I have never managed to find a recipe though. It's a very easy drinking ale.

Hi Steveicky

I don’t have a recipe exactly, But I have some info that might be enough to start.

I have the details of 3 Hardys & Hansons beers. Kimberley Classic, Kimberley Best Bitter, Kimberley Best Mild.
My guess is that the Olde Trip May be similar to the Classic, as Trip is a 4.3% Premium Ale

They all use Pipkin Pale Malt, Crystal and Maltose.
They all use Challenger, Northdown & Target or WGV, Possibly dry hop with Goldings.

The Classic has a SG of 1047 an EBU of 31 and an EBC of 18.
The Best Bitter has a SG of 1039 an EBU of 19 and an EBC of 26
The Mild has a SG of 1035 an EBU of 19 and an EBC of 90.

Hi Normski

It's looking like an exact recipe is unlikely, so some experimenting may be required. Thanks for the info.
I have never used maltose, where can you get it?
