Since it has been bumped back up, the genuine Backer one I've got has run absolutely flawlessly so far and has been nice and easy to keep clean :)

What about coating with food grade silicon - this stuff looks good to 150 degrees: DOW CORNING® 786 SILICONE SEALANT

I have had 3 sets of peco elements now and each set has rusted the same. They may be ok to use for boiling wort but are not really suited to being used in a hlt being left over night.

I bought a copper and HLT from mr lard with two elements a piece. The elements in my HLT starting rusting up after my first brew but the elements in the copper are fine. Not quite sure what's going on there!

Do you clean the wort off your elements after each brew or leave it on the elements to stop the rust?

I wash and dry both the copper and HLT elements at the end of the brew. Both the same but the HLT elements keep rusting!
