Doing It With Ditch ~ On Film!

Spielberg, eat ye f**kin heart out!!!
By public demand ~ or, at least because Ozzy asked me to

~ I got the camera out today and, amazingly, found the quality very good, in the light through my back door.
So, here's the whole mini series that I created this morning. Nothing too ground breaking. I just wanted to illustrate a few of my own, basic, principles for the eye.
First of all then;
Sanitisation!
The bit so many Newbs have nightmares about.
Well, here's how I do it to an FV which I've just scrubbed and hosed clean. I'm using a micropore cloth which I've just dragged out of an open bucket of Thin Bleach. If ye can get a slight whiff of bleach? That's fine to use:
Sanitising
Yep. It really
is that raw and simple. No. I haven't sanitised my hands. Yes. That shirt is f**king filthy. Get over it.
Another aspect prone to having a Newb's ring piece nibbling is '
What Water?!'. F**king tap water, for chrissake!
Just remember:
Always chuck half a crushie (A ground up half of Campden Tablet) into the jerry can, before filling it, and all will be well.
Water Treatment
Then, 'Just Add Water. (But, I've decided not to bother showing you a f**king hose pipe shooting water into a jerry can. I'll leave you to visualise that bit)
Now, one aspect of all this that is Most important; We must have our Little Helpers. Now, everyone likes showing off their adorable little five year olds, helping Dad make his beer. So, here's my three year old, cleaning up the spraymalt bags for me:
Pesticle

I worship Pesticle.
And now, finally, the moment Ozzy has been waiting for! Here, at last, is genuine, filmed footage of Ditch using his drill to stir shit up. First off, we have
forward action, in about three gallons of wort:
Forward Action
Yep. That's a Skil 500 Watt, single speed drill. See how it pushes the liquid upwards? Any more than three gallons and ye'll likely have it coming over the rim.
It also causes more foam than I need:
Result .....
And, last but, not least;
Reverse Action in the full, four gallons. As I've said before, I've found that drilling with the reverse action has a weird effect. It tends to draw the drill down. It also causes a lot less surface turbulence ~ thus allowing me to premeasure my wort to the required four gallons. No need to wait around all night for the foam to subside and fiddly topping up.
Reverse Action
What I was also trying to point out to ye there is the sheer state of that mixer. It's actually got a lot of
rust inside!
So f**king what? Has had for months, even years. I still use it. And, guess what happens ..........
