Hi, it's a sunny day today and I've noticed that I'm getting sunshine on my boiling wort. I can shield it from one side but not get rid of it completely. Does anyone know whether this is a risk of light strike? I see lots of people boil outside without cover, so I'm assuming it's not a major problem, but does anyone know for sure?
Thanks
Paul
Effect of light on hops during boil

Always drink your beer in the pitch black to avoid this.

I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Re: Effect of light on hops during boil
As I understand it "lightstrike" is a condition that only occurs once bottled and will be much worse if clear bottles are used. This can take sometime to develop (weeks). I don't believe it happens by boiling with the lid off. Easiest fix is to keep any bottled beer out of direct sunlight.
