How long to keep RO water?

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

How long to keep RO water?

Post by Dave S » Wed Apr 09, 2014 9:59 am

I've recently started to dilute my tap water by 20% with RO water for my mash in order to get the the SO4:Cl ratio where I want it for pale ales. Due to feeling a bit below par these last couple of months I haven't brewed since early February, and so I have most of a 25 litre container of RO water that's been lying around since then. It's had its cap tightly screwed on so is not open to the air, but I was wondering if anyone sees any issue with using it in a brew, which I am hoping to do over Easter, or should I ditch it and get some fresh.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Best wishes

Dave

Yeah, at £2.50 for 25 litres, it probably not worth taking the risk. Plus we can use the remains of the current batch in the steam iron, so won't be wasted.

Out of interest, what could be in this water that 60 minutes of boiling can't kill?

So it's organic, farm-fresh, cruelty-free and traceable? Man up and grow a pair, I say!

find a water fire extinguisher,1) there air tight 2)all they contain is water, crack the lid open and inhale deeply, once you finish throwing up decide how best to procede with your brew
Warning: The Dutch Coffeeshops products may contain drugs. Drinks containing caffeine should be used with care and moderation
