I may brew a bit longer to 23L, and add some DME along with the cane sugar to try and maintain a target of 1.060 OG.

I will run it all through Beer Engine tonight and see how it looks.

Cheers

I had a little play on Beer Engine last night, and think that this is the way to go-

23L Brewlength
2 x 1.7kg Cans of Coopers Original Series Stout
600g of Light DME
600g of Golden Cane Sugar
Estimated OG 1.060
Estimated FG 1.014 - 1.016
Estimated IBU's - 90

The big issue with increasing the brewlength by 3L, is that I've decreased my FV headspace to 10L

Cheers

Haha, nice one!

It will only be my Brewfridge that might get mullered.

I will probably line the wooden shelf in my fridge with plastic to help with the inevitable clean up operation!

to be honest i think you will be ok,
I did a 3 can kit last year (stout/dark ale/euro lager) in a 30 litre FV, i made it to 23 litres, some of it pushed through the air lock, but it didn't make a mess or anything.
i had no means to control temp' i just let it do it's thing and all was good.

MB

You have to post details of this one. We want to see exploding fvs and yeast spew.

I'll try and update this tonight.

I pitched the yeast just after 10pm last night, and I checked on it at 7.30am this morning and the FV lid is already domed, and small amounts of CO2 are coming from the blow-off tube [-o<

The lid will be stuck to the ceiling by the time you get home!

Think he must have drowned in spew when he opened the kitchen door.

After a slight delay (AG brew & holiday), I finally got this brew going on Sunday night.

I rinsed out both emptied cans of wort with boiling water and added this to my stockpot that contained my 600g of golden cane sugar. Once this was dissolved, I added another can of water (cold treated) to the stockpot and then gradually added the 600g of DME over a low heat and stirred it well until it was all dissolved.
Image

All of the fermentables are now all dissolved and smell pretty awesome!
Image

I started the yeast rehydration while I topped up the FV with cooled Campden tablet treated tap water. I added both (14g) of the Coopers ale yeast sachets into 140ml of cooled boiled treated water @30C. I left it for 10 mins, gave it a good stir and then left it for a further 5 mins.
Image

Nicely aerated wort @22C, all ready for the yeast.
Image

1.058 OG @22C, so only 2 points down on my estimate :)
Image

All ready for the off in my Brewfridge set to a cautious 19C. I brought the temperature of the rehydrated yeast down to 26C, by adding small amounts of the slightly cooler wort before pitching.

Cheers

Hello Monkey,
What are you trying to achieve with this Toucan Brew?
I made a `Ditch`s Stout` to 18 Lts and this came out at SG 1058, 6.3% ABV.
As WestyTwaalf said earlier, is it worth adding the extra can of Goo?
