316 Stainless vessels
316 Stainless vessels
Hi Guys,
I am trying to find a couple of vessels for a non-homebrew application. I need corrosion resistance and that means 316. I was looking at 2nd hand tanks but you are talking about £500 plus for non-ideal tanks which may or may not be 316 (100-200L size). I came onto the homebrew scene because I spotted that you guys have 'pots' of this sort of size for a whole lot less, but I guess they are 304, at best.
So can anyone recommend a supplier of 100L/200L vessels (don't need to have double skins or gas heatable bottoms or similar), in 316?
Thanks

Re: 316 Stainless vessels
I do not think I have seen 316 vessels for brewing purpose.
You might have to take a look in to the dairy and/or chemical industry.

Thanks guys, tried a few links I found on here but you are right, 304 rules in this area. I think I have found someone local to make something for me, thanks.

I have been quoted a range of numbers. For approx 200L with sloping base to 2inch outlet, on a basic frame that the forktruck can handle is anywhere from £700-1000. Many of the used tank prices are coming out at about £600 which is just too high, by comparison.

thanks for the info....
but I guess forktruckproof and 316 makes it a different tougher beast than than the price range I live in.
cheers

Ok, so when are you going to buy some smaller vessels and start brewing?PIPUK wrote:Thanks guys, tried a few links I found on here but you are right, 304 rules in this area. I think I have found someone local to make something for me, thanks.
