Yep. the Brupaks boilers are good. Though, Steve and I both changed the ball valves.

Sort of

I had ago at making a small PET bottle starter, but I reckon it was only just yawning when I pitched it, definitely not fully awake!

Steve_flack, seveneer they sound good where abouts are they available from online?

Seems leyland do them but I was hoping to go to a ten gallon boiler
So they might be a bit small.
Might have to get a ten gallon from hop and grape.

If you get a 10 Gallon from hop and grape, be advised that the cutout is pretty sensitive.

I can't reccomend you modify it, since that would be Highly Unsafe, but i had to rip the cutout to do a 1080 brew.

I use a 75l one for my boiler and can easily boil 10 gallons. I got mine from Farnborough but Hop and Grape do them too.

Hmm dont really want that
Thats what i am trying to get away from.

With the saftey cutout removed are they a good unit?
As I dont really want to upgrade my boiler to and even bigger mistake!

Yes, the boiler is good. I'd reccomend either getting the 2 boiler version, or if you don't want to pay John for his time, buy a boiler element and fit it yourself.

After i removed the cutout element, i was able to boil high gravity volumes fine.

Removing the cutout was a bit of a fiddle, to be honest.

Do they have two elements or just the one?

What tap mod needs doing to them Seveneer or Steve_flack?

As does the Hop Shop which is where I got mine - they're a smidgen cheaper than H&G for the 75L version.

The 75 and 100L ones have two 3kW elements and the 50L has one.

We both replaced the ballvalve with a stainless 3-piece ballvalve from BES. The one that comes as standard is stainless but a piece of crap.

The 10 gallon frop H&G has either one or two, depending on how much you want to spend. They sell the elements in a seperate section.

I think the general technique is to use two elements until it comes to boil them turn one of them off to maintain it.

Hmm unfortunately i might have to stay with plastic a bit longer at that price.
I can't see SWMBO going that far.

Thanks for all your help though, one day I will have a stainless steel brewery.
Unfortunately the garage(brew shed) needs a new roof which is sucking up funds at the moment.

If you're not afraid to cut you own holes (big ones) then you could use a big pan from catering-supplies-uk on ebay....or you could use propane and only have to drill a small hole.
