Lucky dip hops

Post by octoscott » Mon Jun 23, 2014 1:31 pm

For the last couple of months i've been saving up the last 10-15 or so grams of hops i have from any one pack into a single bag and freezing them.

So far in this bag i have columbus, amarillo, cascade and liberty all in varying quantities and have about 80g in total.

They are all mixed together and i was wondering if anyone has ever kept a lucky/unlucky random bag of hops and actually used them?

I am thinking about just all pale malt and doing 60, 30, 5 minute equal hops additions and fermenting with US-05.

Have I lost my mind?

Only if the recipe turns out great and you want to recreate it

I say give it ago, I read not so long ago, some one did it,

Think it might have been Hamelsworde Brewery, but I could be wrong!

You could have a winner with this, but it would be hard to recreate :)

I done this with Apollo Centennial and Citra. Best beer I've made to date, tasted like Adnams Ghostship

The hops you have should work nice together too

Probably :)

Columbus, amarillo, and cascade blend well together. The liberty was bred from a German noble hop and might get lost mixed with those citrusy hops.
I'm just here for the beer.
