Casks

Post by deadlydes » Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:57 pm

i am looking into upgrading my kegging system.
i curreltly use king kegs.
i have been told these are great http://www.cypherco.com/brewing/30lbevkeg.html
obviously i need the co2 canister etc.
just wondering has anyone used these? does anyone here cask their beer?
just wondering as will beer keep as long ing a cask as a king keg? i have left them for upto 6months.
and another point is that i drink pretty slow i.e. 40 may last a month or more. does beer keep in casks/kegs once its been tapped?
cheers

out of interest... and sorry for hijacking your thread, although these look really cool!

how would you go about releasing the presure from an empty cask like this, or a commercial keg? would you just connect the coupling handle without a gas tube connected so that the valve in the keg is open, thus allowing air/co2 to flow freely?

cheers,

bod.
