Toms Bar-keggerator

Post by BeerBarron » Thu Aug 21, 2014 7:20 pm

Hi guys, thought i would share my bar-keggerator.

I always wanted to have a bar since leaving my mum and dads when i was 19. We used to have one in the kitchen which always proved a hit with the mates.
Forward 18 years and hooked on ag brewing, i had a bit of spare space at the side of house, so built a man cave and then thought, theres a load of wood left so why not make a bar.

so here she is.

I wish I had a bar :x

Are you going to tart up the walls/ceiling at all? I imagine a bit of insulation might help in a couple of months time

Looking good!
Need to find somewhere to stash your CO2 though!

I've no space for a bar without losing too much garage space unfortunately... :(

how you getting on with them taps?
Taps are brilliant. Flow control helps. Also on the first try I lobbed some gelatine in the cornie and it bunged the tap up but you can strip these ones right down to clean (remember not to put gelatine in cornie). The vertical parts of the tower have a copper tube through it surrounded by spray foam which pokes down into the fridge. It keeps everything chilled right up to the tap which hopefully helps with no frothing or temperature drops as its being poured. At the mo I've hadn't had to mess with the flow control.
Looks great, the barman could do with some practice though
I'd had a few  but thats my first go with the nitro mix. Although the taps haven't got a restrictor plate in them, pushing forward on the tap recreates the restriction for adding head and this seems to work with the nitro mix.

wish I had some money left. Have you seen the price of sheet material.

That bar is great!! Love the sign too.

I was gonna fit my taps to the front of my fridge and was looking at drip trays. This is what I was looking at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLESS-STE ... 1164519578

In the end I bought another tap bracket and Im in the process of fitting it, just having a cuppa :-)

Great effort, love the bar! I'm doing something similar with my shed. I've run electrics out there, picked up an old fridge, a couple of angram pumps and numerous other bits and pieces from ebay. Have a load of scrap wood to build the bar, so just need a bit of spare time now to get it all set up! Once its finished, i'll post some pics.

Tom, what size fridge/freezer have you used?
The taps are those the normal chrome party taps?
I've not long moved into a house with a decent shed in the back garden and the wife has given me permission to man it up!
