mounting a Mrlard sight glass

Post by Deebee » Fri Oct 03, 2014 9:31 am

Hi.
I am brewing this evening and thought I would mount the sight tube on my boiler.

All has gone superbly... but..

the site tube has an elbow that goes on the tdide of the boiler. There is then a threaded nut, a silicone washer and a metal washer.

the threaded section obviously screws into the elbow from the inside but what about the silcine washer and metal washer. One inside and one out, or both on the inside againt the boiler wall??
please help. brew day approaching and I have a hole in my boiler :)

I'd go with the threaded nut -> metal washer -> silicone washer -> boiler wall -> elbow. The metal washer acts as a bigger collar for the nut to let it properly compress the silicone washer and form the seal

Excellent, those silicone washers are pretty tough so can take a fair bit of tightening anyway.

Now the fun of calibrating it!
