Sorry PCP, I missed the follow up.

The cleaning set up is a equal tee piece, beer flowing through the straight bit. Then off the spur, an stop valve like this ebay link, going on to an open ended piece of beer line.

I then shut the beer off (another stop valve), stick the open beer line in a bucket of water/cleaner, open the valve and pull it through the beer engine.
