Shelf life of unopened mini casks

Hello all,

I wondered what people's experience was of the shelf life of beer in mini casks?

I am assuming that is the same as bottles (I.e. Potentially years) if unopened?

I have 4 casks of porter for Christmas and want to make sure they don't go off before then!

What is the BBE on the Casks?
Apart from that, I have not got a clue!

I assume you mean your beer you have put in the casks. I put almost all of my brews into these as I find it a convenient way of storage and dispense (bottled years ago, a real PITA).

I haven't left beer in them for too long, but I still have some strong mild casked in May. I opened one about two weeks ago and it had aged and mellowed wonderfully.

So I guess the answer is: six months, easy. Longer, I dunno. As with most things beer-wise, stronger keeps for longer.

Resist the temptation and leave them as long as you dare!

dont leave them with the bungs exposed to UV they can perish (within 6-8months..)
