Xmas Gift for someone who HATES bottling?
Xmas Gift for someone who HATES bottling?
What can I get for myself to stop me hating the bottling process?
Re: Xmas Gift for someone who HATES bottling?
1. starsan mix in a spray bottle
2. pack of plastic bottle caps
3. little bottler on the end of a tube connected to the tap on your bottling bucket (remove the spring and ball valve on the end so flow is controlled by the tap)
4. coopers carbonation drops
5. open dishwasher door
6. put bottling bucket above dishwasher
7. edit " and a half and a double whisky" - to the tune of a partridge in a pair tree
Happy Xmas !!

Cheers - Starsan and a bottle rinser methinks. What's the deal with the dishwasher?
I do use a keg but only to fit the little bottler to the tap for bottling.

Place bottles on the open door and fill them above the door. Any drips and spills are collected in the door. Less cleaning up!

I dont even bother with a tree etc. after drinking a few rinse under the hot tap 3 or 4 times shaking it out every time.
spray 4 or 5 sprays of starsan in, fit the plastic cap and shake.
bottles are ready to go on bottling day , just tip out the starsan. job done

+1 for daddies beer factory method. I used to hate bottling but now I can have a selection in bottles instead of the one barrel. I even have my father in law trained to do it when he finishes a bottle and I am away.

Daddysbeerfactory and sweatysocks; do you not use glass bottles? Sounds like a good idea. How long can you leave the starsan mix in for?

I like the idea of bottling on the dishwasher door. I always end up with a bit of a puddle on the floor when I'm bottling. I put it down to the excitement

I've bottled the same as daddiesbeerfactory for quite some time now, the starsan and plastic cap is a superb idea and cut my bottling time down from 2.5 hrs to about an hour!
The only thing I do different now is instead of bottling over the dishwasher door whilst sat on a chair I now attach some silicon tube to the tap and top of the wand and fill the bottles while they're in their crates. The caps are in starsan too so no need to rinse them.
I've been told you can do this with the bottles about six times but it's best to check the bottle and if there's any cloudiness building up then they need washing again.
