Mine don't seem to release pressure. :(

Tonight we drew off a half of the Judy Garland Stout, which is in the local pub cellar. It had no condition at all - on closer inspection that cap had split! Second time that has happened to us!

So we tried to "melt" the crack with a lighter, seemed to work, resterilised it and resealed, and zapped it with CO2 - seems ok but will check in the morning to see if the pressure's gone again.

Bugger!

Um, I drafted a reply about head and mouthfeel but it just sounded plain rude.

mysterio - A Cornelius Keg hey? that sounds interesting. I can hear the pressure escaping from the top of my barrell so what your saying is clearly correct. Do you have any further info on these kegs?

ColinKeb 'I may be wrong but i would just get a teaspoon of the slurry at the bottom of the fermenting bucket and use that'

- Sounds like its worth a try to use a spoonful of the sediment/slurry.

prodigal2 'With the lager I did it took nearly 2 months before the carbonation was right, sadly this was also when it was nearly finished'

- hehe I have the same trouble I cant wait either!! - did you have your lager in a pressure barrel?

Im wondering how much sugar you used to prime in each of your bottles prodigal. Also what was the size of these bottles.

Ive never bottled before but after I saw the price of a cornelius keg I guess I will have to while I save up.

Where did you get your bottles from and do you reccomend this process? Especially if they took 2 months to carb, but then again it might be worth the wait.

1/2 or 1 teaspoon per pint depending on how carbonated you like it.
Try asking your local brewery one who bottles as well as using casks they might sell you some.
Either that or buy your self lots of bottled beer drink them and use the bottles.

What type of bottles do you reccomend, I tried buying lots of bottles of budweiser/carlsberg type bottles but there were just to many the missus went mad and I was borderline alcoholic :pink: .

I imagine brown ale bottles would be good but I cant drink that it sends me loopy but hobgoblin ale bottles are similar. If im brewing approximately 22.5 litres of lager/beer that means I need 50 500ml bottles!!!! Surely not av I got my calculations wrong or should I start attending AA before I start this?
