I only have the HB kegs but as I dont drink lager the carbonation levels(nearly flat) are ok for me.
Others on here will be able to help you with force carbonating in corny kegs and equipment needed.

What are these HB Kegs Oxford? I only use pressure barrels currently. These give only a small level of carbonation for ales and beers also and aren't really suitable for lager so im told.

Im relatively new so any info is good info on what to use.

They are Hambleton Bard kegs http://www.arkwrightshomebrew.com/produ ... ucts_id/39

I also have a King Keg and a beersphere(both plastic and they vent pressure at about 10psi,you can get it a bit higher by using cable ties around the relief valve rubber but you still wont get enough carbonation for lagers).

If you are going to buy kegs, if you can get them at a good price then cornies are the way to go.

Oxford - thanks for the info and the links all very informative and you have cheered me up no end because I thought I screwed up with my lager but clearly I didnt.

When I can i'll invest in a cornelius and keep that for lagers and my barrels for beers, ales etc.

I did have a thought the other day tho, if I fermented 5 gallons of wine n put in a pressure barrel (no priming sugars of course) would it keep ok or not? whats yer thoughts?

I want to brew about five gallon of wine but after fermentation I have no where to store it.

If you are going to store that much wine for a long time I would use a glass carbouy with a cap and airlock

I see - why do you think it wouldnt work in the pressure barrel if you dont mind me asking?

Wouldnt the valve release be like the the air lock and and the tap my access point for pouring.

I dont know if I was clear but I meant after fermenting and clearing i would put the wine in the pressure barrel for serving.

It would be in place of buying lots of empty wine bottles, the reason i thought of this was due to the boxes of wine you can buy to drink and the kind of technique they use.

I appreciate your thoughts oxford.
