Good weather for first extract

Post by jaytee1 » Sun Jul 01, 2007 11:55 am

What a weekend for a brewing and the forecast for the coming week is perfect aswell with temps not going above 19 deg c!! Lovely for this time of the year.

So with nervous excitment I got up this morning at 8:30 to get things rolling, and try my first extract.

Thanks to Marc Ollossons' book 'Real Ales for the Home Brewer' im just in the middle of making 100% Satisfaction and the house smells wonderful! Not sure how the missus is going to react though when she comes downstairs!

What I didnt account for was exactly how long it takes to bring 18l of water to a boil on a stove....i could have written war and peace! However it happily boiling away now. would love to have provided pictures but alas still no camera from the insruance claim. Next time I promise.

Its been a good weekend because ive managed to knock up a Brewferm Xmas and Coopers Sparkling Ale aswell so im a very happy brewer!!

Right its time for the next hops to be added so im off.

Have a good sunday all.

Cheers Daab, I have to say a big thanks to all of you on this forum, and especially you for all the help, tips and more importantly encouragment to brew better and better beers..I dont think that I would have moved as quickly and confidently into extract and then all grain without it..

So cheers to you all and ill be toasting your good health.
