Re-using Yeast From A Bottle - WJ King Winters T'Ale

Post by SiHoltye » Sun Jul 01, 2007 3:23 pm

I tried my Wherry made with yeast reclaimed from a bottle of Fullers 1845 and it tasted good. So I have decided to do the re-claim thing again this time with a local brewery yeast.

The beer is bottle conditioned WJ King Winters T'Ale. King is one half of King and Barnes of Horsham (as was). They service just one pub and some local shops and I went to the pub for Sunday lunch today - The Lamb at Lambs Green/Rusper, in between Horsham and Crawley. Good food, always busy.

Here is a picture of the birth, Muntons Light Spray Malt & Highland Spring made love in a pyrex jug to 1060 SG, in came the dregs of the bottle and made it a menage a trois. Plan to do a Fixby with this, probably 2 weekends time after pricking out this little'un up to an adolescent 2L PVC with (hopefully) an inch of magic beer sludge.

That's all for now. Enjoy the union picture all you voyeurs!

A good point that I forgot in my enthusiasm. I did find out that Fullers yeast is primary though. I'll contact the brewery to ask.
Thanks Daab

This hasn't worked, the yeast has settled to the bottom, stayed brown, and has not fermented. So one out of 2 with this technique.
