, will I have to hold 5 Ltrs behind for sparging?
Confused already lol
Danny
Seems a lot of water, most recipes are always between 33 and 34 litres and I get 24 litres into the FV. Beers are between 5 and 6 %

Danny, you'll find that higher abv beers will require more grain and higher starting volume. To make it easier I've aimed to make less (final amount) of the higher abv beers so that I don't have a really thick mash.
For your first BIAB I would aim to use no more than 5kg of grain. It will be easier to handle and you can learn the process.
The most I aim to make is 20L as that's all I can fit in my Sankey kegs.

You can just hold back some water from the mash and add it after removing the gain.

I found the biabacus told me I didn't have the volume required but brewsmith said I did. Brewsmith was correct.

Brewmate also gives me a pretty accurate water volume, and haven't yet gone past 40L for my Buffalo for a 23-25L brew length.
Fermenting: Nowt
Conditioning: Black Cross Stout
Drinking: GW London Porter, 'Use it Up' Bitter

For 25l batch size (how much beer I want to drink) I start with about 35litres in my 50litre pot.
