I've managed to procure a tall larder type fridge (Hotpoint RLA80) to use as a fermentation chamber. It comes with the typical plastic rimmed glass shelves you find in big fridges and I'm not entirely comfortable with a 25 litre plastic fermenter sitting on one of them at waist height!
The gap between each shelf runner is approximately 10-12 mm, so I need to find a material that is strong/stiff enough to take a full 25 litre bucket but be no more than 10mm thick really. I was thinking about plywood but not sure if it would take the weight of a full bucket without bending and popping out of the runners. The width of the sheet would have to be 500mm and the depth similar (400-450mm).
Any ideas?
Cheers
