Re: The Bread Maker
The Ardbir software rocks, no doubt. Thats why everyone uses it. But as I mentioned above the question here (when cloning a Braumeister) is about how to achieve a professional control unit that looks and operates like the original.
I cannot see how the Ardbir all-in-one board differs in term of functionality from Lael or anyone else's controller. Although it is much neater on one board it doesn't seem to be any different in actual use.
Dean.

Is where I got mine from, mainly thanks due to a fellow homebrewer being able to bring it back to the UK for me, I dare say a UK based homebrew store might be able to get you one.

If so then available here -> http://www.brewuk.co.uk/pipe-50.html

Re: The Bread Maker
No, it's a standard/full size 50 pipe I was looking for.
It's listed on that German site for 85 quid plus postage.

Re: The Bread Maker
Yep the Swiss site sells the big 50l & smaller 25l Malt tubes for the 50L BM unit (note the malt tube for the 20L BM are smaller in diameter).
On the cheap if you only want a 25l BM Clone unit , buy a standard 70ltr Bregland Pot this has a diameter of 450mm, buy a 25L Malt Tube (the one sold for doing smaller brews and as mentioned available in the UK http://www.brewuk.co.uk/pipe-50.html) this Malt Tube is 350mm diameter, you will now have a basic setup to match the dims of a BM unit.
If you can find a larger stock pot, say 100l (+) that has 450mm diameter both the 50L & 25L Malt Tubes will fit, this is what I have done on my build.

Re: The Bread Maker
I see someone is going commercial with a "bread maker" using ArdBir

Re: The Bread Maker
Yes we realize that..
It's an open source project so there is always the risk that someone take advantage of someone else hard work (we are talking about hundreds of man day work) to make commercial operations ..nevertheless the project is still open and we are committed to support evolution!

Re: The Bread Maker
No disrespect to the Mashtown version but one of the main reasons why I went for the Lael build was a prefab enclosure + all the bits that went with kit, the front fascia on theirs looks somewhat DIY ish? They also run the risk of someone buying one of their machines and listing the parts which IMO apart from the stand look like standard stock items.
It is nice however to see such systems gradually get into the market place.
Question for Davide (Arzaman) does your kit do anything more or less than a Lael kit would?
Cheers

Re: The Bread Maker
We are cooperating with Lael since the beginning o Italian fork of the project and as stated in the main thread everything has started from “baruduino” and Matho’s controller..barneey wrote:

Coming to your question I answer that what a controller do is not linked strictly to the HW or a nice enclosure. Is definitely the SW the brain and the heart of everything (and the value..)
So Lael did a god job to engineer the solution for intermediate brewer that don’t want to build a front panel etc.. (but let’s wait ArdBir board 2.0

) but without ArdBir SW power is just a well-engineered “baruduino” controller.

So, No then..
only teasing arzaman, hope you dont fall into the brewtroller trap of obsfication the beauty in matho's original codebase was its simplicity.

Re: The Bread Maker
No problem...
Wondering what kpi we can use to define the "buty" of a sw code..
I'm not in the position to provide estetic judge but according to our sw guru (max) the original code was far from being simple and we'll written ..with some structural bugs..
Than the cotribution of the community improve so much and ardbir team bring to actual level..simple and powerful. .miles away from original code but with same spirit

Re: The Bread Maker
i would dbl check all of max's cv pdq, he is talking bollox.
check it out for yourself
https://github.com/mathoaus/braumiser-c ... duino2.pde
small atomic functions and a main execution loop of less than 50 lines of unambiguous code
no reliance on side effects, its as we would say in the 80's 'a happening bit of code'
and it reads like a book without annotation.
perhaps there may be the odd loop with a dodgy termination, but i havent spotted one
fwiw my pedigree is with clinical and safety critical systems
and if as poor as max suggests it would have been quicker to start from scratch than develop. (edit replaced rewrite with develop)
