how much?

Post by gaz » Thu Jul 12, 2007 7:04 pm

Hi all,
I´m new to the forum and have been reading through plenty of interesting posts, certainly lots to learn here.

I´ve treid the search facility but no luck.
My question is, "are there any limits to how many liters a private person can brew"?

If anyone can give me any answers, or point me to topics that have already covered this question, thanks.

i think the limit is about 479,234 bottles per year

and no more!

Seriously, i dont think there is a limit as your not involved in either on or off sales, as long as you drink what you brew the sky is the limit (or the floor in my case!)

Edit: Ive just seen your location so the above may be complete arse!

what does the rienheitsgebhooot say? you can brew as much as you like as long as you do it on the third wednesday in june? :D

The US limit is 200 US Gallons but the UK has no limit (AFAIK IANAL). So long as it's for you own domestic consumption and not sold (or given away apparently) then you can drink yourself to death on homebrew if you wish

Hi Chris,

I ask this because here in Germany each individual is only only allowed to brew a maximum of 200 liters.
I´m lead to believe that every time you start your kit (23 liters or whatever) you need to register it with the zoll (customs and excise).
I´m just a bit confused, I dont want to go stirring up any bees nests with the zoll by asking questions ( I´m probably more near your 479,234 bottles per year)

Any information on this subject would be apreciated.

Hey, my German mates say German beer is the best in the world.
Why the hell are they in my garage every time I test my homebrew then?

200 Gallons is four times the amount of what we´re allowed here (if my maths are correct )

Hope you guys don´t mind that I don´t put what`s brewing in my sig.

could be one mega disadvantage for me.

Yep got that one DaaB.
Would really like to put in my sig. what´s brewing, whats bottled and so on. Unfortunately "big brother" is really about, especially in this country

I was reading that in Singapore you need a brewing license (cheap enough - $10 for two years) but your maximum brewlength is 30L
