Hello all i am planning getting of my arse & might brew tomorrow or the next day. I am going to make a Belhaven 80/-that i tweak & have brewed for many years courtesy of Mr wheelers book (cheers Mr wheeler).Anyway i am planning replacing some of the pale malt with some melanoidin malt. I want a really malty brew so going to mash highish 68oc so as the US 56 doesn't overly ferment out. But is 5 % melanoidin malt enough any thoughts.Cheers :=P :D

Melanoidin is pretty strong stuff. I'd start lower than that myself but you should get away with 5%.

Cheers steve have seen recipes on the net with it up to 15 % of the grain bill. But as i haven't used it before i wasn't sure how much to use. It's good that 5 % should be plenty as it costs an arm & a leg to buy from Hop & Grape
