2 bags one pot ?
I have a 100 ltr pot for biab brewing currently doing 23 litre brews I'd like to go bigger. But the biggeSt problem is grain weight and bags tearing. So the 2 options would be a turkey frying basket which are hard to find and damn exspensive. The other option is two bags in one pot. So take your grain bill and split it and put ypur bags side by side in the pan would this work would grain clumping be an issue? Maybe considering sparging as well ?
Any advice or pointers Would be good
Thanks in advance

I can't see anything massively wrong with this idea but my suggestion would be switch to a mash tun and do it that way. If you can't do that then two bags with have to do, won't it?

Lack of space plus I'd want an 80 litre mash tun
Re: 2 bags one pot ?
1 bag or 2 bags cant see anything wrong with that it is still mashing the same a little more fluid absorbed by second bag but your boiler is big enough wouldnt worry about it

Bit of a shameless plug here, sorry. If I'm breaking a rule here, Jim, I'll remove and not re-offend.
I've recently tried to test the strength of my BIAB bag. This is a 40L bag. First I hung it with just the 25Kg bag of cement for an hour. No problem, so then I added a 12.5Kg bag of potatoes and left it for another hour, no problem. This was hanging on just one of the two handles.

One of my large, 4 handle bags should be plenty strong enough. It will fit a pot up to 55cm diameter:-

I think I bought one of your bigger bags off eBay but mine only has two handles ?
Re: 2 bags one pot ?
Just started making the four handle bags. Big enough for 55cm diameter. Previously my biggest was for a 50cm pot. Those have just the 2 handles.
I noted a few people using bigger pots, or even 50cm pots with thick insulation around. The bigger bags tend to be popular in Norway/Sweden. Perhaps the trend there is for bigger brews.

So do you reckon your 2 handle jobs are as strong as the 4 ?
Re: 2 bags one pot ?
For up to 50cm dia pots (typically 100L) I think the 2 handle bag is strong enough. I know that just one handle will support the bag fine at 37Kg. I've never done a 100L brew (don't have pot big enough) so don't really know the weight of the contents when mashing a full brew, particularly something strong with a large grain bill.
I've sold a lot of the 100L bags though and had none returned. Personally I think my biggest concern would be the effort required to lift it out of the pot at the end of mashing with a lot of wet grain. I guess a pulley system would help, but two smaller bags also sounds like a good idea worth a try. Lifting one at a time would clearly be much less strain on the back muscles.

Re: 2 bags one pot ?
Yep for a 50 litre brew ypur looking at about 12kg dry wet your probs looking at close to 20kg plus the vacuum effect.
Re: 2 bags one pot ?
This is the pulley that I use. It has a ratchet to suspend it over the pot to give the bag a squeeze.
My grain bill is about 5kg but I would have no problem with double or treble that amount if my brews were larger. Its rated for over 100kg.
