Crusader kegs
Crusader kegs
They do a flatter takeoff in stainless if you need a bit more clearance
Did you get a discount for buying 4 ? I'm sure I saw someone get a few quid off when buying a few once
I have a 30l but I think I'm going to go for 20l ones in the future

Re: Crusader kegs
Bought them from brew uk, I bought the 90 degree piece but it turns too much, then you can’t lift connector handle up, could always use thicker washer

Re: Crusader kegs
Nice bit of kit! Quality of the kegs is excellent.
Look for a second hand Hotpoint RLA larder fridge. They have a recess in the 'ceiling' which gives an extra 20/30 mm

Re: Crusader kegs
Malt Miller do a flat 90 degree in stainless
Not sure if it would cause a problem with the lever as I don't use one

Re: Crusader kegs
Yeah secia, that's the one I bought from the malt Miller.
Yeah Alex I did just look on eBay

Re: Crusader kegs
If your diy savvy you could adapt your fridge to make it bigger. If you have enough width for 2 you could increase the hight and depth to fit 4.
Re: Crusader kegs
Just enough height, but not enough width

Re: Crusader kegs
That's a shame. It's the reason why I'm sticking with cornies for now - can keep 4 in my fridge. A chest freezer may offer more space though.

Re: Crusader kegs
Just wondering what benefit are crusaders over corny's?
Re: Crusader kegs
Only had mine 1 day, but from the looks of it , theres only 1 top seal to look after

Re: Crusader kegs
1 seal which you will probably never need to replace, available in 20/30/50 sizes, industry standard so available new at reasonable prices
The only negative side for most people is you can't get your hand in to clean, it's not caused an issue for me so far, I do it without even removing the spear

Re: Crusader kegs
The short answer is they don't leak. The slightly longer answer is unlike corny posts, they don't leak. Ask yourself this question. If cornies are so good, why don't the breweries use them? Answer. Way too much bother sorting leaks. Why do home brewers use them? Initially they were a cheap alternative to plastic kegs, and the size was perfect for home brewers. Which they still are. However times specs and prices move on. Sankey kegs are not far removed from cornie prices, so the choice is somewhat of a no brainer now. But don't let me dissuade you from going down the cornie route. There is nothing wrong with cornies, as long as you are prepared to put up with constantly sorting poppets, seals, etc. If you use the likes of PWB to clean your kegs you don't ever need to get your hand in there. So the wide mouth of the corny is a bit of an overkill, and not an issue in reality. Ask INBEV. Re: Crusader kegs
Yup, industry standard for a reason I guess.
Re: Crusader kegs
Industry standard because they are robust and easy for the breweries to clean. They clean them with caustic and steam usually so no need to get inside.
They do seal well and would be my choice if I didn't already have cornies.

Re: Crusader kegs
Bob...I would really like to get a few Crusader Kegs, for the reasons you mention, my mains water is very soft, I assume similar to yours? since water treatment I suffer from minor Beer Stone deposits in my cornie's which requires hand in cleaning with trade Beer Stone Remover. Do you get any Beer Stone deposits, does PWB remove Beer Stone deposits?bobsbeer wrote:The short answer is they don't leak. The slightly longer answer is unlike corny posts, they don't leak.
