Have you tried the real Nanny State? Its probably the worst beer I have ever had, so I wouldnt rush to make this recipe personally!!bryanferry wrote:I printed out a few to try out. #14 Trashy blonde, #35 Movember, #39 Alpha Dog are solid recipes (and the ingredients come out at £11 a 20l batch).
might throw a curve ball and try to make a batch of the Nanny state. Quite a complex malt and hop schedule but it might be worth a go to have a 0.5% brew in your locker.

Nanny State tastes like that stuff that Bear Grylls likes to drink.

Blimey didn't realise it was that bad. Thanks for the heads up. I'll forage for a bottle but imagine the consensus is well founded.

I've just bought hops to maybe try the punk. Thinking of doing that and giving my corny its first outing. But then I'm dubious about messing up the brew by doing something wrong with the corny set up. So might just cobble something up with hops I've got in the freezer that need using up.

Seen this one. This is for 50l so will scale it down if I try this one.

Seems a lot of hops in the boil and low on dry hops

Those measurements are for 50l which I wouldn't be making. Just like the sounds of those hops. Not sure what I'll do yet but just saw that one and sounded ok possibly. Who knows.

Re: Brew Dog Recipes
Just had an email from the lads at Brew Dog with the updated recipe book 2.0. Very bold move to include all the beers they plan to do in 2016.
Need to get myself a sample of their Paradox Islay when they get round to making it.

Re: Brew Dog Recipes
I've bought the gear to make a batch of Alpha Dog and just realised the mash time on the recipe is 25mins. This must surely be a typo so I've taken it as a 75min mash. For a sanity check thought Id ask if anyone knew of a reason why they would just waft the malt over the liquor?

Re: Brew Dog Recipes
probably a typo but with modern malts you can do fairly quick mashes I think
