Hi, it is my first attempt at this kit and I am wondering what gravity it should finish at? At the moment it is at 1.020 after a week. It looks to have finished but I feel that it should be lower than that.
I have very gently roused the yeast and shall test it again at the end of the week, but I am not sure just how low it should get to.
Norfolk Nog Question.
Re: Norfolk Nog Question.
Hi
do the instructions not give an indication of the FG?.
Looking at some reports on it, it looks as though that is still high, 1.014 seems to be more like it, But don't take that for granted. Give it more time, a week is very optomistic for it to be done.

When I brewed this kit a few years ago it finished at 1.014, so +1 to chub.chub1 wrote:Hi

Re: Norfolk Nog Question.
1,014 would be great, somehow I don't think that it'll get down to that. Most of the ferment must have been done during that warm weather last weekend. maybe I should have swopped out the kit yeast for some G-12

Only a novice, but many people have told me to have patience, it should do no harm to leave it some moreRedimpz wrote:1,014 would be great, somehow I don't think that it'll get down to that. Re: Norfolk Nog Question.
I did the Nog kit a couple of times, both finishing at 1.014. I've read here and elsewhere the Wherry kit had a tendency to stick, often around the 1.020 mark, and the kit yeast got the blame. I had good temp control (water bath & aquarium heater) and fortunately never had a stuck ferment - though the final few points could take a seemingly long time
It shouldn't hurt to give it another week, and you'll get less sediment that way. I felt the instructions were over-optimistic, and I got better results on a two week ferment than the 3-5 days they suggested.
