Bottling bucket dip tube

Post by AFewTooMany » Tue May 31, 2016 9:02 pm

Looking to get a new bottling bucket and intrigued by an American forum thread to simply remove the back nut off the tap and screw on a pvc elbow pointed at the bottom of the bucket.

Ideally wanting this set up

Sadly cannot find any of these 3/4 bsp elbows in PVC or similar on sale in the UK. Anyone had any luck with trying this out before?

Can't understand why screwfix/usual suspects don't carry these

£2.96 in Brass? http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p41492?table=no

& you can add a stub of copper pipe to get as low to the bottom as you want?

i use a 15mm right angle copper joint with a stub of 15mm pipe, long enough to rotate and get near the bottom of the bucket.
i jam it into the internal diameter of the bottling tap with a bit of ptfe tape to make a seal/keep it place.

Brass should be OK in contact with starsan and oxi? Normally only use it pre cooling so don't need to sanitise
